From the video, Greenberg
on Art Criticism: An Interview by T.J. Clark I learned that writing about
visual art is much tougher than writing about literature or music. Greenberg
comments on the partisan review were interesting too. The video related to the
creation of my project because I agree one has to have great judgmental skills
in being an art critic. This film was interesting and one thing that I agreed
with is how important relevance, intuition, reasoning in art criticism.
In the video, An Introduction to the Italian Renaissance,
I learned that the Renaissance was a renewed enthusiasm in the arts and how
many Italian artists contribute to the development. What I found interesting is
how Ancient Romans create art from natural beauty until Barbarians conquer the
empire. This relates back to my project because they talked about how Francesca
experiments with contrasting light and dark to create depth in “The Madonna and
Child,” which highlights how the Catholic Church conveys Christianity through
art. In my project, I stated how different elements were used to represent a
certain idea. The film was interesting and added depth to my understanding of
the topic.
